Central Texas meterologist shot in TV station parking lot
KVUE — A KCEN employee was shot multiple times in the parking lot of the station Wednesday morning, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said late Wednesday morning.
D.L. Wilson with DPS said the suspect exchanged words with the employee before he pulled a semi-automatic handgun and fired several times, according to KVUE's sister station KCEN in Bruceville-Eddy, between Waco and Temple.
The employee, Patrick Crawford, a morning show meteorologist at the station for the last two years, managed to drive away and flag down a construction worker, who called for help.
Police are still searching for the suspect, described as a white male, 30-35 years old, wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and dark jeans. Wilson also said he has a receding hairline.
Crawford was taken to Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, where he was undergoing surgery late Wednesday morning, Wilson said. KCEN is reporting Crawford is recovering and doing well after surgery.
