21 Austin companies recognized as best employers in Texas by Fortune Magazine
Austinites looking for their next employment opportunity might want to consider the long list of local companies that were just named the Best Workplaces in Texas for 2023 by Fortune and Great Place to Work.
Great Place to Work, which helps employers improve their workplace culture, and Fortune magazine annually team up to select the best companies to work for in two categories: small and midsize employers, and large employers. Rankings are based on feedback from employee surveys and data from Great Place to Work-certified employers.
Five Austin companies made it onto made it onto Fortune's list of best large workplaces in Texas. Information security providers CrowdStrike (No. 10) ranked highest out of all Austin employers on the list and was the only company to make the top 10.
CrowdStrike workers surveyed said their company has a great "diversity of backgrounds" with their employees.
"We are not cookie cutters in terms of past experiences and interests," the report said. "We have a variety of people who work together to help everyone be successful on engagements."
Identity security experts Sailpoint (No. 13), enterprise resource planning software company Epicor Software Corporation (No. 17), transportation experts Arrive Logistics (No. 18), and biotechnology and pharmaceutical company Natera Inc. (No. 21) also made it onto the list for the best large Austin employers.

An additional 16 local companies appeared in the top 10 best "small and medium" Texas employers list. Four made it into the top 10: security software providers Ontic Technologies (No. 7), financial planners 49 Financial (No. 8), e-commerce platformBigCommerce (No. 9), and WordPress technology company WP Engine, Inc. (No. 10).
Employees at Ontic Technologies praised the friendly community in the report, stating that the company leadership values their workers and their input to improve the workplace culture.
"Our voice matters and we do bring up real-life things that are happening in the world and discuss them but provide support," the report says. "It feels like a place I could be for a while as in the environment and the job opportunities to grow in a career. Its different than my last few jobs where it seemed impossible to advance without a lot of hassle or hurting anyone feelings but working here they want you to grow even if that means leaving the company."
The remaining Austin-based companies listed among Fortune's 75 Best Small and Medium Workplaces in Texas 2023 are:

The Best Workplaces in Texas award is the only one of its kind in the U.S. that "selects winners based on how fairly employees are treated," according to a press release. The companies are evaluated based on how well they treat their employees across several factors, including race, gender, age, disability status, and more.
