It's finally here. H-E-B's new store bordering Southwest Austin and Dripping Springs is opening in July. Their new location brings groceries to a vastly populated area that previously had few options for shoppers.

H-E-B initially bought the property at the corner of Nutty Brown Road and Highway 290 eight years ago, where the once famed Nutty Brown Cafe used to be. According to a 2022 press release, the new store will feature memorabilia and iconography from the cafe.

"H-E-B will incorporate materials such as red brick from the original brick oven used at Nutty Brown Foods, which served as a flour mill and candy store," the release said. "The H-E-B design team has plans for a tribute wall that will welcome customers near the store’s entrance. To preserve and celebrate the venue’s 70-year history, the mural will include vintage photography and colorful iconography inspired by original signage such as the blue 'Welcome' awning and the neon Cowboy sign."

Other highlights of the new 103,000 square foot H-E-B include their signature Curbside and Delivery services, their classic Meal Simple dishes, a scratch bakery and tortilleria, live cooking demonstrations, and more.

"When it comes to freshness, convenience and variety, you'll find everything here at your new Austin Nutty Brown H‑E‑B," a recent press release said. "We proudly offer an outstanding selection and a local destination for unsurpassed quality and service while keeping H‑E‑B's pledge to offer everyday low prices."

The new Nutty Brown store arrives nearly a month after a two-story H-E-B opened in Georgetown on June 7.

There are currently two other H-E-B locations that serve the area: the Dripping Springs H-E-B which opened in 2010, and the new Oak Hill store at the corner of 290 and FM 1826 that opened in 2021. The new Austin Nutty Brown store will help bridge the gap in between the areas, allowing for shorter, more convenient drives.

The Austin Nutty Brown H-E-B, located at 12225 US 290 West, will be open daily from 6 am to 11 pm starting July 5.
