UT Austin to end 4 student and faculty support programs after spring

The progams are set to end and resources will be "repurposed."
Changes are coming to several programs at the University of Texas at Austin's Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.
In a letter sent to colleagues on Friday, January 16, Executive Vice President and Provost William Inboden said multiple programs within the office will shift into new categories, while several others will "conclude operations as separate units."
The latter include the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Office of Community Engagement, the Vick Advising Excellence Center, and the Office of Undergraduate Research. These programs are set to end after the spring 2026 semester, but Inboden said the resources they have provided will be "repurposed" amid the changes.
Additional programs will also shift, according to Inboden's letter. He said the Business Affairs team – currently in the Office of Academic Affairs – will instead become part of the Office of Academic Administration and Planning. The First and Transfer Year Experiences will soon move to Strategic Enrollment Management, while the Office of Academic Technology will become part of Faculty Affairs.
Inboden started his current role at UT on August 1, 2025. Before that, with a break to work at other universities, Inboden spent 13 years at UT as founding executive director of the Clements Center for National Security and associate professor at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, among other roles.
