Ferrari Challenge
Ferrari Challenge races back into downtown Austin and COTA
If you've always wanted to attend an F1 race but don't want to pony up the cash, you may want to keep tabs on when the Ferrari Challenge will return to Austin. Ferrari Racing Days weekend took place at Circuit of the Americas over the weekend and there was no shortage of racing action!

The unique event gives Ferrari fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with the cars as well as watch the Ferrari Challenge championship and a handful of other races. Over 140 track-only Ferraris were on hand, making it the largest gathering of Ferraris on track in North America.
The best part? The event was free! Car enthusiasts were able to watch the races from the grandstand, wander around the paddock, watch the post-race interviews, and cheer for the winners at the podium celebration.

Those with connections to the Ferrari dealers, drivers, and sponsors were able to access the hospitality suites. While sipping on Champagne Bollinger or mixed drinks by Dobel Tequila, guests could grab a seat above the pits overlooking the grid. There were some tasty food options offered throughout the day including steak, lobster, caviar, gelato, and more. Not really what you think of when you think of a day at the track - unless you're highfalutin, that is.
Ferrari guests were also invited to a kick off event on Friday that took place at The Bullock Texas State History Museum.

While in hospitality out at the track, we chatted with Lisa Clark. The current points leader in the challenge has been featured on Netflix's "Fastest Car" series. Clarke was presented with the Ladies Cup for her performance at the weekend event.
A number of races took place on both Saturday and Sunday. The action took quite a turn at the end of the final race where one car crashed at the finish line, driving in reverse before coming to a stop in front of the grandstand. Luckily, there were no problems for Austinite Dan Cornish. Representing Ferrari of Austin, he finished first in both Coppa Shell races.

This was the second time the Ferrari Challenge took place in Austin. It was previously held at COTA in 2018. No word on whether it will return to the ATX in 2024.
