Hot Summer Nights, Austin's donation-based festival across the Red River Cultural District (RRCD), is nearly here. From July 24-26, more than 140 acts will play at more than 15 venues on Red River Street, the city's hub for local live music. RRCD has just announced its full lineup, with 136 names and a handful more to come.

As much as it is a place, RRCD is a nonprofit. Funds raised by Hot Summer Nights will pay the musicians, support venues, and fulfill other support needs in the nonprofit's scope.

Like the internationally famous South by Southwest, Hot Summer Nights is a decentralized festival, meaning there is no main venue where people can expect to see all the most compelling acts. There are a few ways to tackle that as an attendee.

If keeping up with favorite bands is a priority, find them on this list and get ready to follow them to whatever venue they appear at. However, many attendees go for a venue-forward approach, knowing certain venues cater to certain styles and levels of popularity; choose your "home" venue and expect a few discoveries to come to you.

Before scanning this list, here are some of our favorite artists performing this year: Andrew Cashen & the Disciples of Creation, Cactus Lee, Cha'keeta B, FAK3 5MILES, Farmer's Wife, Font, Foxtales, J'cuuzi, Los Kurados, Nolan Potter's Nightmare Band, Octopus Project, Pussy Gillette, Queen Serene, Subpar Snatch, and The Tiarras make 15 solid bets.

New this year are four more participating venues (Kingdom, Marlow, The Side Bar, and Feels So Good (FSG)), a larger night market, expanded daytime events and early evening matinees, and hotel discounts at Hyatt House Austin.

Anyone could technically attend Hot Summer Nights for free. However, fans are encouraged to RSVP via See Tickets. They'll have an option to RSVP for free or add a $5 or $10 donation, and they'll receive updates that will unlock offers throughout the weekend. A $5 donation will automatically add the user to a drawing for skip-the-line Homie Badges, concert tickets, and other perks.
