Wardrobe Talk
Where to shop right now: HELM's new boots, South Lamar swimwear & more must-haves for spring
In this month’s selection of shops around town, we highlight stores that can help you gear up for the vernal equinox and update your wardrobe with vibrant spring additions.
Billy Reid
The new women’s collection at Billy Reid will get you inspired and in the mood for spring’s return. The loose-fitting, yet ultra feminine Polka Dot Donelson Shirt Dress and Louise Dress are two of our favorites. Pair them with the Lula Mule Sandals and you’re ready for the office or a night on the town. For the guys, Billy Reid will be hosting a custom tailored suit event in early April. Place your orders way in advance, prices for a custom suit start at $2300 and take six to eight weeks for delivery.
HELM Boots
Even fashion-forward mountain men need new boots for spring and local boot makers, HELM have definitely come to the rescue. This east side staple has just debuted a slightly more causal spring/summer collection. Try on the new chukka style boot, the Phillips Copper (named after HELM's favorite barber) or make your old pair shine like new by grabbing one of the many leather treatment oils or balms. HELM Boots will also be officially launching the line by hosting a party on Friday, March 28 at 6 pm.
Rogue Running
For the more athletic types, Rogue Running is saying good riddance to cold weather with a 40 percent off sale for all winter apparel. The new, massive downtown location is also worth a visit and of course, you might as well grab one of Rogue’s Austin-centric running shirts or get fitted for comfy running shoes before hitting the trails.
Sabia
Often with warmer weather, it’s not just your wardrobe that needs updating, but your facial products as well. This chic spa and salon is one of the few places in town that carries luxury natural products like SkinCeuticals, Kiehl's and Aesop. Pamper yourself while shedding your dull, wintry skin with products such as Aesop’s Purifying Facial Cream Cleanser or our personal favorite, Aesop’s Purifying Facial Exfoliant Paste. Summer is also around the corner, so stock up on the pore-friendly SkinCeuticals UV Defense for those trips to the pool and beach.
Still & Sea
At last, Austinites have a one-stop shop for ladies' swim and beachwear, located in the heart of the South Lamar. Store owner Brigitte Pentecost has meticulously curated her boutique with exclusive, wallet-friendly Hawaiian brands such as Tiare Hawaii, Ava Sky and Greenlee Swim (a unique brand that uses recycled materials to produce flattering swimwear). Already making waves in its first month of business, Still & Sea customers have been obsessing over popular items such as the Tiare Hawaii Soho Pantsuit, the Ava Sky Easy Breezy Top and the Greenlee High-Wasted Bikini Bottom.
TOMS
Since its launch in 2006, TOMS has really turned it up a notch or two. From the classic slip on shoes, TOMS has expanded to a variety of modern shoe styles, along with sunglasses and now, premium coffee. The newly opened brick-and-mortar on South Congress serves as not only a storefront, but also as a coffee shop and popular hangout spot. Ladies should check out the new TOMS Blazing Yellow Jutti Flats and Pink Mix Vegan Playa Sandals. For the fellas, TOMS offers canvas classics in fun springtime pastels, such as Baltic Green or Salmon. Revamp your shoe collection or sip on a cup of Joe, while helping out a great cause. Also of note: TOMS will be hosting a coffee tasting at the store on April 5 and 6:30 pm.
