Frost it Forward
CultureMap spins into Austin fitness studio for latest surprise pop-up
Riders heading into Love Cycling Studio on July 18 got a lot more than a typical Wednesday evening workout. CultureMap, in partnership with Frost Bank, spun into Love's West Fifth Street location for the second in a series of special pop-ups designed to help Austinites #frostitforward.
With instructor Megan on the podium, Love cyclers were treated to a killer workout on the bike — and a big surprise off the bike. Equal parts sweaty and inspired, cyclers headed into the lobby where they were met by the CultureMap street team and a bevy of goodies from local vendors like Outdoor Voices and Austin Eastciders. Each person also took home a Frost cash card, but it came with one request: spend the money on someone else.
The pop-up is part of Frost's new campaign, Opt for Optimism, which inspires others to pay it forward. Following Wednesday's class, the surprised riders took to social media, using the hashtag #frostitforward to document their good deeds.
Also joining the fun was Austin's favorite homegrown apparel line, Outdoor Voices, who donated swag bags, signature Doing Things caps, and $20 gift cards. Austin Eastciders made sure everyone rehydrated in style with ice-cold ciders.
In addition to these in-person surprises, CultureMap has also launched a curated Austin Charity Guide, a one-stop destination for learning about area nonprofits and charities. Follow along all year as we uncover the sweet and inspiring stories of fellow citizens giving back as part of our Charity Guide special editorial series.
The Love Cycling pop-up was the second of seven Austin events running throughout 2018. Those who didn't make it out to the July 18 event or the June soiree at the South Congress Hotel still have plenty of opportunities to join the movement.
