Classic sandwiches, fresh ingredients, and meats cured in-house — what's not to love about Austin's newest deli? Lox, Box & Barrel, located in the Southwest Center off Highway 290 near Oak Hill, opens Wednesday for lunch service.
The traditional American deli concept comes from Sebastien Caillabet, founder of local smoked salmon purveyor Celtic Seafare. The deli, which CultureMap first covered last spring, upholds the beauty of simplicity: good food with good ingredients at a reasonable price.
The current menu features hot and cold sandwiches, soup, salads, desserts, craft beer, and wine. Breakfast and brunch options, which Caillabet says are lacking in this area of town, will be available in April.
The restaurant also features a deli counter where patrons can buy sides by the pound, whole roasted chickens, and pre-packaged goodies. Fans of Celtic Seafare can snag smoked salmon too.
Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am to 4 pm, Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.
