Patio Season
The hottest new patios in Austin for drinking and dining al fresco
Patio season is here, so where should you go? To one of these new patios, of course. Here are nine gorgeous new spots with the perfect mix of a fun atmosphere and tasty beverages.
Boiler Nine Bar + Grill
The three-tiered Boiler Nine concept is home to the namesake restaurant (floor one); the Boiler Room bar (basement); and the Deck Nine Observatory Bar, which is why we're here. This high-flying rooftop hangout offers stunning views of downtown Austin and the Seaholm development. Sip a pick-your-own-booze cocktail paired with delicious bites.
EastSide Tavern
Barbecue, brews, and views. EastSide Tavern has it all — plus brunch and cocktails — on East Cesar Chavez. There are technically two patios: one on the ground floor and a rooftop bar above. The tavern aims to be an option for quality barbecue and cocktails that won't put a dent in your wallet.
Grizzelda's
The award for prettiest patio goes to Grizzelda's. The new Mexican concept from the Jacoby's Restaurant & Mercantile team can be found right across the street from the original restaurant (and down the road from EastSide Tavern). Although small, the patio is immaculately decorated. If you love vibrant colors, swoon-worthy chairs, and tropical vibes, you'll love sipping tequila cocktails on this patio.
Irene's
Irene's is basically one big patio. Located on West Avenue between West Fifth and West Sixth streets, this Elm Restaurant Group gem serves a lineup of local drafts, house-made punch, and straight-forward cocktails. Post up on the benches outside and snap the customary photo in front of the ivy wall.
Kemuri Tatsu-Ya
Kemuri's front patio has a cute little bar with a limited menu of sake and beer to enjoy while you wait for a table. The much larger back area not only has plenty of seating but a menu that includes Tiki drinks in adorable glassware.
Kitty Cohen's
Kitty Cohen's is sexy little number specializing in refreshing cocktails designed to be sipped throughout the day. During the warmer months, Kitty's Daiquiri Shack out back by the pool swirls frozen concoctions.
Mattie's at Green Pastures
We can't pass up an opportunity to talk about this gorgeous patio. Mattie's, the reincarnation of the original Green Pastures restaurant, offers nostalgic vibes and the same beautiful grounds.
Revelry Kitchen + Bar
This East Sixth Street hangout has a plethora of yard games and enough shade to keep you from overheating. The beverage program features craft cocktails alongside canned and bottled brews and a rotating wine selection. Bonus: A second Revelry location on North Lamar Boulevard is slated to open this year.
Tillery Kitchen and Bar
A stunning wooden deck overlooks the Colorado River near the Longhorn Dam, offering breathtaking sunset views. Beverages include craft cocktails, draft beer, and wine. For food, expect Mediterranean-leaning dishes.
