El Sapo, the beloved burger joint from El Chile Group, is moving out of its East Austin home. The restaurant will close its 1900 Manor Rd. location and move to West Austin — the former Bacon restaurant off North Lamar Boulevard.
"Over the past three years, El Sapo has gained a loyal customer base in East Austin. With this relocation, we look forward to offering our existing customers a beautiful, redesigned space while introducing the restaurant's signature offerings to new guests in the Old West Austin area," says El Chile Group founder Carlos Rivero in a release.
El Sapo's last day on Manor Road is Monday, May 29. The restaurant will reopen Monday, June 5, at 900 W. 10th St.
El Chile Group — which is also behind El Chile, El Chilito, El Alma, and Alcomar — will not change the menu, which offers craft burgers, hot dogs, cocktails, and beers, all with Tex-Mex flair.
El Sapo is hosting extended brunch hours over Memorial Day weekend, along with burger specials, $1 mimosas, and a Bloody Mary bar.
