Popular Austin restaurant chain taps new Texas market as part of rapid expansion

Another Austin restaurant chain is heading south. Mama Fu's Asian House is set to open its first San Antonio location on Tuesday, July 5, as part of its rapid expansion plan.
"It is a thrill to be opening Mama Fu's in this vital and vibrant city," said president and CEO Randy Murphy in a press release. "This has been a big year of growth and expansion for Mama Fu's and to have San Antonio be a part of that is truly exciting."
A big year indeed. The restaurant chain has 30 new locations in the works, 14 of which are slated to open in 2016. Suburban Austin outposts — Dripping Springs, Pflugerville, and Round Rock — are part of the plan, as are more restaurants in the San Antonio and Houston areas.
The Austin-based chain is known for fresh, healthy Asian food, ranging from classic dishes to fusion fare inspired by Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisines. The lineup includes traditional items like stir-fry and pad Thai as well as original creations like the Thai dynamite shrimp appetizer and a cheesecake roll for dessert.
The restaurant also offers delivery and catering, which can be ordered online or through Mama Fu's mobile app.
