Hip Austin coffee chain steams ahead with new Domain Northside shop
One of Austin’s favorite coffee shops will soon be perking up Domain Northside's bustling Rock Rose district. On December 6, Houndstooth Coffee announced via release that its latest location is opening December 8 at 11501 Rock Rose Ave. #118.
Located next to Tarka Indian Kitchen and Sway, the shop will carry the same coffee menu as the other locations. Limited edition winter drinks, like the Rhum Nut and Cinnamon Spice Cappuccinos, will also be available to wake up the development’s holiday shoppers, as well as assorted pastries and Tacodeli breakfast tacos.
Like its East Austin outpost, the Domain Northside cafe will introduce cocktails inspired by its Dallas cocktail bar, Jettison. The menu will include the Red Headed Oaxacan (a take on the margarita with ginger-honey syrup and mezcal), the BLVD (bonded rye, Capari, Averna, coffee vermouth), and Red-Eyed Reviver (rye, lemon, coffee vermouth, Cocchi Americano) — all available on tap soon.
Chioco Development and interior designer Kasey McCarty worked to give the space a fresh feel while also keeping the brand’s identity. Inspired by other locations, rainbow tile, wood paneling, and cloud-like lighting fixtures were added to give the space a dreamy look.
“As with all our previous locations, the new shop at Rock Rose provided both design challenges and opportunities,” said Houndstooth owner Sean Henry in a release. “We saw similarities in layout with our first Dallas cafe on Henderson Avenue, and were inspired to enliven the space with modern elements that quote and depart from what we've designed before.”
One of those design “quotes” included an integrated counter and bar area, which the chain hopes will help facilitate guest interaction, whether that be over coffee in the morning or cocktails after work.
The new Rock Rose shop continues a growth spurt for the chain. In addition to three other locations in Austin, Houndstooth also has three locations in Dallas.
