3 years in the meantime
Meanwhile Brewing will release 8 new beers at celebratory birthday bash
Meanwhile Brewing Co. is celebrating three years of good times and beers in Austin, with a birthday bash. The Third Anniversary Party will take place November 2-5 with live music, exclusive beer releases, food specials, and many more activities for all ages.
Meanwhile Brewery wants to honor those who have helped establish the brewery in the Austin scene over these past years with four days of nonstop fun.
“We are beyond excited to celebrate three years of brewing award-winning beer and building connections within our vibrant community,” said Meanwhile founder and head brewer Will Jaquiss in a release. “This event is our way to say thank you and celebrate all the wonderful people who have supported us over the years.”
To kick off the anniversary event, Meanwhile Brewery will be releasing two beers in the taproom on Thursday, November 2. The first is a lager named the Jacquez Lager, and is made with wine grapes in collaboration with Austin restaurant Lenoir. The second is Celestial Flirtation, a triple IPA that was made in collaboration with Dallas brewery Celestial Beerworks.
Austin-based afrobeat collective Hard Proof will perform live, featuring members also recognized in Black Joe Lewis and Honeybears, The Calm Blue Sea, and Ocote Soul Sounds. Plus, the five food trucks at Meanwhile will also be featuring food specials during the Third Anniversary Party weekend.
South African inspired barbecue joint Distant Relatives will have the "Untidy Joseph": prime Texas beef with piri queso on a brioche bun. Pizza truck Side Eye Pie will be serving a truffle pizza. Mexican eatery Pueblo Viejo will be bringing tacos de trompo, a variation of Al pastor tacos. The ice cream savants at Besame are sweetening things up with a s’mores baked Alaska flavor, featuring graham cracker-infused ice cream topped with freshly torched marshmallow fluff, and a bitter fudge swirl. Finally, the newest concept, Songbird, will be serving a hatch salsa verde bacon burger with fermented chili, beer cheese, and onion straws.
On day two, the brewery will release six new beers at the Container Bar: an aged imperial stout with pineapple and rum, a 3-year funky lager, a Genmaicha sour ale, a Umeboshi smoked wheat, and a Makrut lime honey gose. Band Tomar & the FCs will bring the funk beats live at 8 pm.
Meanwhile is partnering with Passport Vintage on Saturday, day three of the festivities, for a fun market with live tattooing by Hayes Morrison (Holy Planet Tattoo) and Bree (My B Tattoo). Music acts will start a little earlier with DJ Hollywood Jones at 3 pm, followed by live performances throughout the evening.
On Sunday, the brewery is slowing down with yoga instructor Hannah Charles for a 1-hour flow in the park for all levels at 10 am, followed by a kid-friendly crafting activity: upcycling cans into birthday lanterns. Passport Vintage will return for another market starting at 12 pm. The celebrations will wrap that evening with live music performances by Lady Dan and Pelvis Wrestly.
Third Anniversary Party events are free to the public. Reserve tickets on Eventbrite.
