Opting for Fun
CultureMap's surprise South Congress Hotel pop-up designed to delight
When attendees joined the fun at South Congress Hotel during its monthly First Thursday celebration, no one knew they were in for a surprise. In partnership with Frost Bank, and in celebration of the newly launched CultureMap Charity Guide, our street team popped into the luxe hotel with custom drink specials, free SoulCycle classes, and other goodies designed to #frostitforward.
In between sets by DJ ulovei, Austin's own Third Root performed onstage for First Thursday attendees in the hotel's chic courtyard. Festive fare included hot dogs from Central Standard's executive chef, Casey Wilcox, and paletas, ice cream scoops, and sammies dished out by Stephen F. Frostin'.
Meanwhile, inside at the hotel's lobby bar, guests were selected at random to receive free cocktails courtesy of Frost Bank. Those looking to commemorate the evening popped into the prop-filled CultureMap photo booth, where some were greeted with free SoulCycle classes and Frost cash cards, which they were encouraged to use towards a random act of generosity.
The June 7 event was the first of seven Austin pop-ups scheduled for the remainder of 2018. Once a month, Frost and CultureMap will choose a place to "surprise and delight" fellow Austinites with free goodies and surprises encouraging them to #frostitforward and give back to our local community.
