What: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Man and Woman of the Year Grand Finale Gala
Where: JW Marriott Austin
The lowdown: Fundraising records were shattered once again at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual gala. On June 10, cancer advocates and local celebrities gathered to see Patrick Starley of Legacy Star Capital Partners, LLC and Anne Idsal of the Texas General Land Office honored as Man and Woman of the Year for the South Central Texas chapter.
The two raised $153,850 and $131,774, respectively for LLS. In all, 18 participants worked over the course of 10 weeks to bring in a new record of $975,000, which will help LLS's mission to fund blood cancer research and provide services for those affected by the disease.
"This was another amazing year in the fight against cancer. We're so proud of the candidates, their teams, and the Austin community that stepped up to support these individuals, and the work of LLS," says Randy Cubriel, co-chair of the gala committee, in a release.
