Texas saw job growth in May, according to new employment numbers

New numbers surrounding the Texas workforce show that employment numbers grew in May.
"Texans again smashing all previous records for total jobs, total Texans employed, and total Teas labor force," Gov. Greg Abbott said.
The Lone Star State has added more than 2.1 million jobs since Abbott's administration began, according to a press release from the governor's office.
The Texas Workforce Commission and the Bureau of Labor Statistics released May employment data. Below are some key takeaways:
- Employers added 51,000 nonfarm jobs over the month
- Total number of jobs in Texas is 13,918,700
- Number of Texans employed and self-employed is 14,393,000
- Texas has the largest labor force in state history at 15,009,300
- Texas added 529,800 jobs over the last 12 months with an annual rate of 4 percent compared to the nation's rate of 2.7 percent
