On a long list ranging from Bridesmaids (2011) to Furious 7 (2015), the next South By Southwest world film premiere comes from Austin's own Richard Linklater. The director's new comedy, Everybody Wants Some, is slated to make its debut during the 2016 festival.

The festival announced the world premiere of Everybody Wants Some in a statement on Tuesday. "We are so thrilled to premiere Richard's latest work, which is really funny, instantly quotable, and filled with great new talent," Janet Pierson, head of SXSW Film, said.

In a move that is "alright, alright, alright," the Everybody Wants Some premiere is open to Film, Interactive, Gold, and Platinum badge holders.

Everybody Wants Some is said to be a spiritual sequel to Linklater's cult classic Dazed and Confused. While the latter explored 1970s high school slackerdom, Everybody Wants Some chronicles a "group of college baseball players as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood" in the 1980s.

The hotly anticipated comedy was written and directed by Linklater. Cast credits include Will Brittain, Zoey Deutch, Ryan Anthony Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin, Blake Jenner, Glen Powell, and Wyatt Russell.

SXSW attendees can see the film during the festival's Film Opening Night on March 11, 2016. The official release date for Everybody Wants Some follows on April 15, 2016.
