8 all-day Austin happy hours to enjoy all week long
Happy hour is supposed to be relaxing, but the short run times can give anyone a panic attack. First, you have to come up with an excuse to leave the office before hitting the highway at Formula One speeds, hoping that your friends also don't get snagged on their way out the door.
Luckily, there’s a better way. These eight hangouts offer all-day happy hours that require a saunter instead of a dash. Take a breather from rush hour and hit them up all week.
Black Sheep Lodge
This South Austin spot features deals every day, but we like it best on Mondays when the bar keeps it local with $3 Texas pints and liquors all day. If beer isn’t your thing, grab a seat on Thursdays for $2 frozen margaritas or on Sundays when it revs up with $3 sangria or $3 Bloody Marys. Whichever day you visit, grab a burger. They aren’t on special, but the drink deals more than make up for it.
Casino el Camino
Sure, this Sixth Street stalwart technically only offers all-day happy hour on Sunday and Monday, but it runs from 11:30 am to 7 pm every other day of the week. Domestic beers are $2.50, imports are $3, and top shelf cocktails are only $3.50. The classic B movies playing on the screens are, as always, free.
Crown & Anchor Pub
On Monday through Saturday, this campus bar offers pints for $4 and pitchers for $12.75, but what fills them rotates throughout the week. Monday and Thursday offer the most variety, applying the deal to Austin and select Colorado brews, respectively. The other days focus on select breweries like Deschute, Independence, Real Ale, or Live Oak.
Haymaker
Finding a happy hour on Friday is like discovering a unicorn frolicking in the wild. But unlike those mystical beasts, the bargains at this Manor Road fave aren’t imaginary. Kick off the weekend with $2 frozen margaritas or $3 beer ritas. And add some extra magic with a floater, which are also discounted.
Irene’s
A word of advice for hitting up Irene’s lengthy Sunday happy hour: the popcorn is free, but don’t rely on it to soak up $1-off draft beers and $4 draft spirits. Shore up between sips with pimento cheese and saltines, spinach and artichoke dip, or a hefty plated of loaded Irish nachos. All are discounted by $2 and necessary for guests who want to survive Monday morning.
Jacoby’s Restaurant & Mercantile
Get your yeehaw on at this East Austin eatery specializing in Texas-raised beef and crowd-pleasing Southern cuisine. On Tuesdays, saddle up to an all-day happy hour featuring $5 starters like boudin blanc balls with remoulade, deviled eggs, and aged beef stuffed yeast rolls with barbecue butter. Pair ‘em with a half-priced cocktail or wine, discounted by $2 by the glass or 25-percent by the bottle.
Péché
This Warehouse District anchor starts the week off right with an all-day Monday happy hour featuring a curated selection of $5 cocktails and half-off select food. To find the best deals, look for the asterisks on the menu highlighting tempting treats like Gruyere mac ’n’ cheese with duck confit, a red and golden beet salad with a citrus vinaigrette, and, of course, the restaurant's famous pommes frites.
Sellers Underground
Some bad news first. This LGBTQ-friendly hangout doesn’t offer any food. So, hit up one of the many nearby restaurants before settling in to its all-day Monday social. Once satiated, relax with $3 domestics and well liquor or get bougie with $4 import beers or wine by the glass.
