2 luxe Austin hotels make Travel + Leisure's 500 best list for 2026

Anyone else in need of a vacation?
Two of Austin's most luxurious hotels — Commodore Perry Estate and the Austin Proper Hotel — have earned prestigious acclaim in Travel + Leisure's annual report of the 500 best hotels in the world for 2026.
The magazine conducts its World’s Best Survey annually, and the T+L 500 List represents the highest-ranked properties among the findings. Results are grouped geographically across eight global regions: the U.S.; Canada; the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean; Mexico, Central America, and South America; Europe; Africa and the Middle East; Asia; and Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.
The T+L 500 List is published separately from the World's Best Awards, which is the in-depth breakdown of the world's top hotels, resorts, travel destinations, and more. Both Austin hotels have made consistent appearances in the awards over the years.
There were nearly 190 U.S. hotels that made the list this year, and only 10 hail from Texas.
Since Commodore Perry Estate's opening in 2020, this resort has established itself as one of the most resplendent hospitality properties in Austin, and not just for its elegant guest rooms. The property offers one-of-a-kind experiences for guests such as wine or tequila tastings, tours of the estate, chef-prepared picnics on Sundays, and so much more.
The resort's Michelin-recommended restaurant, Lutie's, also offers hands-on cooking sessions with Chef Susana Querejazu.

The Austin Proper Hotel is also contributing to Austin's status as a top foodie city with several dining options including its new 25-seat French-Japanese restaurant, Kappo Kappo, and Goldie's Sunken Bar. The latter concept is known for its afternoon tea experiences, and the bar recently launched a new vinyl record series called "Oldies in Goldie's" on Sunday nights. The ground floor restaurant Peacock Mediterranean Grill, rooftop restaurant La Piscina, and music lounge the Quill Room complete a culinary ecosystem from top to bottom.
Austin Proper and Commodore Perry Estate have snapped up other awards from national publications like U.S. News and World Report and Forbes, and both hotels have retained their respective One and Two Key ratings from the Michelin Guide since 2024.
Other Texas properties that made the T+L 500 List are:

- Hotel Drover, Fort Worth
- Hotel Emma, San Antonio
- Hotel Vin, Grapevine
