Valentine's Day Value
Why Austin is one of the best U.S. cities for Valentine's Day

A romantic Valentine's Day often comes with a hefty price tag. But lovebirds celebrating in Austin have it better than much of the country.
WalletHub delved into the economics behind the upcoming holiday to determine which of America's 100 largest cities are romantic and budget-friendly. Based on that criteria, Austin is the 24th best city for Valentine's Day.
In the romance department, Austin ranks No. 26 for both Valentine's Day activities and gift accessibility. Austinites won't be short on date ideas, thanks to our high number of restaurants, cafes, cultural attractions, and nightlife destinations. We also have plenty of jewelry stores, specialty stores, florists, and chocolate shops, which make finding the perfect gift a breeze.
Austin fares pretty well in the Valentine's Day budget category too. At No. 32, the local cost for meals, party admission, movie tickets, wine, and salon visits is lower than many other cities on the list.
Our poorest showing? No. 90 for weather. No surprise here, as the forecast for February 14 currently reads chilly with a chance of showers. But we all know that could change in a heartbeat.
The best cities for Valentine's Day, according to WalletHub, are San Francisco; Scottsdale, Arizona; Honolulu; Orlando, Florida; and Seattle. Only one Texas town outranks Austin on the list: Plano, at No. 11.
