Moontower Lineup Revealed
Moontower Comedy & Oddity Fest reveals 2015 lineup including huge headliners and classic comedians
On Tuesday, Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival announced its star-studded 2015 lineup, featuring a mix of stand-up, sketch comedy, improv and musical comedy acts. Now in its fourth year, Austin's homegrown comedy fest continues its tradition of crafting a unique lineup of stand-up veterans and rising stars along with festival favorites and local comedians.
This year's headliners include Ron White, John Mulaney, Tim Minchin, Wanda Sykes and Patton Oswalt, as well as returning acts Marc Maron and Maria Bamford. Also confirmed is a special show with T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley) and Pete Holmes (The Pete Homes Show), though the festival is keeping mum on the details.
New this year will be a single opening performance on Wednesday, April 22 with Ron White and friends at the Paramount Theatre. Rather than host a variety of performances like in years past, Moontower is throwing a one mega show to kickoff the festival. This special evening will not only mark the beginning of White's "Texas Toasted" tour, but will also serve as a treat for Moontower badge holders, all of whom are guaranteed entrance to the show.
Moontower emphasizes taking care of both the talent and the fans — and it pays off. The festival books more than 100 different acts annually and expects to bring in anywhere from 17,000 to 20,000 comedy fans this year. In addition to the big-name headliners, expect showcases from comedians including Andy Kindler, Brendon Walsh, Bridget Everett, Dana Gould, Emo Philips, Judah Friedlander, The Sklar Brothers, Todd Barry and many, many more.
Along with signature TLC treatment, Moontower also prides itself in showcasing up-and-coming comedians, then bringing them back as headliners when they become the hottest acts in comedy. In the past, the fest has nabbed such buzzy names like Hannibal Buress, Aziz Ansari, Bill Hader and Mike Birbiglia in addition to longtime favorites Carvey, Jim Gaffigan and Godfrey.
Early bird pricing for Moontower badges continues until Friday, January 23 at 5 pm. After that time, regular pricing begins at $129 for Fan badges, $319 for Ace badges and $599 for VIP badges. Tickets for single performances are scheduled to go on sale February 19.
The Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival runs from April 22-25. For the full lineup, please go to the Moontower website.
