Fresh new dining option replaces shuttered wine bar in downtown Austin

After teasing Austinites with a Rainey Street food truck and several pop-ups around town, Coast Bar & Restaurant will open Friday, July 8. The former home of Mulberry wine bar, which closed in September, has been transformed into a modern seafood spot.
At the helm is Ruston Richardson, who was also chef of the now-shuttered wine bar. Drawing inspiration from the Gulf of Mexico and Southern California, Coast's menu ranges from elevated entrees (think scallops and pork belly) to laid-back fare like barbecue shrimp and fish tacos.
"Coastal eating has always personified honesty and simplicity to me," Richardson said in a release. "That's what you'll see from the Coast kitchens. The menu blends creativity, technique, and quality ingredients, yielding beautiful dishes that can be enjoyed casually."
A selection of spirits, craft cocktails, and rotating wines curated by general manager Karina Lopez will round out the menu. They can also be enjoyed until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Coast will be open for dinner service 4 to 11 pm Tuesday through Thursday and 4 pm to 2 am Friday and Saturday. Sunday brunch will be served from 10 am to 3 pm.
