Austin Spring Home and Garden Show
Okay, technically this event takes place under a roof, but the interior of the Austin Convention Center will still look much greener than your home garden. The annual Home and Garden Show will help you learn the tricks that you need to get your home looking fresh when spring finally springs up — and the surprise cold fronts stop coming.
East Austin Handmade Arts Market
The East Austin Handmade Arts Market, only a few weeks old, is a reminder that additions to East Austin don’t always have to be condos. Join local artists working in a variety of mediums every Saturday by The Vortex and get to meet some of the hidden talent living in our fair city.
Jazz Brunch at Hotel San Jose
Taking advantage of the spring season, Hotel San Jose is launching a jazz-inspired brunch series taking place in their beautiful courtyard. Beginning on March 1, enjoy live jazz by the Rain Cross Jazz Trio while sipping on mimosas and enjoying a buffet spread including glazed pepper bacon, San Jose Granola and more.
Explore UT 2014
The University of Texas hosts its annual open house this weekend, educating a new generation on the meaning behind "what starts here changes the world." On the itinerary is a campus-wide scavenger hunt, a chance to march with the Longhorn Band, "Hot Science-Cool Talks," and the opportunity to walk around and explore every nook and cranny of the school.
2nd Street Soundcheck
2nd Street Soundcheck is the third annual celebration of this downtown shopping, dining and nightlife district. Stroll around eating delicious food, sipping cold brews, making arts and crafts, and listening to music from performers including Broken Anchor, Leagues and Bob Schneider. And you won't just be partying. By spending a day downtown, you can help benefit the Darrell K Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer's Disease — all while enjoying the outdoors.
