Jess Williamson [http://www.jesswilliamson.com/] Sure, Jess Williamson plays the guitar. But y'all, she plays the banjo even better. Coupled with her hauntingly smooth voice, Williamson's stringed instruments serve as the catalyst for incredibly personal moments playing out for anyone to hear. She spent most of 2013 playing shows both locally and on tour. In November, Williamson had a three week residency at the legendary Cheer Up Charlie's (which has since closed its doors at the original east side location as it moves to the space that was once Club DeVille). That same month, Pitchfork debuted "Blood Song", the single off her heavily anticipated 7-song release, Native State. You can catch Williamson on January 30 at Hotel Vegas [http://austin.culturemap.com/guide/bars/hotel-vegas/] as she celebrates the release of Native State.
